Bio
Kathleen Blake Yancey, the Kellogg W. Hunt Professor of English at Florida State University, directs the graduate program in Rhetoric and Composition Studies. She has served in several national leadership roles for faculty in writing studies, including President of the Council of Writing Program Administrators and Chair of the Conference on Composition and Communication; she just completed her term as President of the National Council of Teachers of English, a 50,000+ member organization of literacy educators from kindergarten to graduate school. In 2003, with Barbara Cambridge, she founded the International Coalition on Electronic Portfolio Research, which they direct with Darren Cambridge and which has brought together over 50 institutions worldwide to document the learning that takes place inside and around electronic portfolios. Yancey also serves on the Advisory Board for the AAC&U VALUE project, which is focused on developing meta-rubrics for electronic portfolios that would at once provide for robust documentation of embedded learning and for national outcomes adapted to local contexts. Yancey co-founded the journal Assessing Writing and co-edited it for seven years. She is the author, editor or co-editor of over 65 chapters and refereed articles and ten books, several of which focus on reflection, portfolios, and/or assessment. Most notable in this regard are _Portfolios in the Writing Classroom_ (1992), _Assessing Writing across the Curriculum_ (1997), and as section editor for the Barbara Cambridge, ed., _Electronic Portfolios_ (2001). In January, Stylus Publishing will release the co-edited volume--Darren Cambridge, Barbara Cambridge, and Kathleen Blake Yancey--_Electronic Portfolios 2.0_, which documents electronic portfolio projects on many campuses, in general education programs, and in various disciplinary contexts.
