David Nickles
Dr. David A. Nickles is a professor of science education, currently serving as Director for Research Communications and Outreach at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA. His three decades of work in California science education include teaching science and mathematics in grades K-16 and science methods for Masters’ students and candidates seeking primary and secondary teaching credentials at four California State Universities. He has also held administrative leadership positions in two California County Offices of Education (Monterey and Contra Costa) and an educational research institute (West Ed). His research interests include teacher candidates' formation of conceptions about teaching science and curriculum development guided by changing students' conceptions of science teaching. Dr. Nickles has initiated a number of professional development programs in both science and mathematics for in-service teachers and has been a frequent presenter at conferences and workshops. He developed a mentor teacher workshop to train experienced teachers to mentor new science teachers. He was co-author of the text "Health, Science and Safety in the Elementary School". He continues to be involved in local educational committees with the Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce and the Monterey County Business Council.

David Bogen received his B.A. in philosophy from Macalester College and his M.A. and Ph.D. in sociology from Boston University. He is currently the Vice President Academic + Provost at Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver, Canada. He is the author of Order Without Rules: Critical Theory and the Logic of Conversation(SUNY Press: 1999) and, with Michael Lynch, The Spectacle of History: Speech, Text, and Memory at the Iran-Contra Hearings (Duke University Press, 1996) as well as numerous articles, book chapters, and reviews that explore the intersection of language, technology, and everyday orders of social practice. His most recent work focuses on social, organizational, and perceptual issues in the design of computer mediated interactive environments.

Nellie Deutsch earned her doctorate from the University of Phoenix from the School of Advanced Studies in 2010. Her dissertation research focused on instructor experiences with technology in blended learning contexts in higher education around the world. Dr. Deutsch is the founder of Integrating Technology for Active Lifelong Learning (IT4ALL), a non-profit organization that provides professional development workshops for groups around the world, generally in conjunction with different projects and initiatives. Dr. Deutsch is also founder and current coordinator of the annual Connecting Online for Instruction and Learning and Moodlemoot free online conferences, hosted online by IT4ALL.org and supported by WiZiQ online learning platform. Dr. Deutsch has provided consultation on how to integrate Moodle and Elluminate learning environments for distance education at Open University and worked as a consultant at WikiEducator.org, supported by the Commonwealth of Learning (COL), Otago Polytechnic (New Zealand), and Athabasca Open University (Canada) in developing online courses and facilitation. She is also an educational consultant, mentor, instructional course designer, and online facilitator on how to integrate technology into the face-to-face and online classroom using Moodle, WebQuests, Professional Electronic Portfolios (PEP), web 2.0 tools, social networks, and wikis. David R. Burns
Associate Professor David R. Burns holds a MFA in Design and Technology from Parsons School of Design. After practicing digital media art in New York City for nearly a decade and teaching at Parsons School of Design and Pratt Institute in Manhattan, David joined the faculty of Southern Illinois University. David developed Southern Illinois University’s first 3D computer animation sequence of courses and its first 3D computer modeling and animation lab. David specializes in teaching 3D computer modeling, animation, and media arts theory and practice.
David takes an interdisciplinary approach to art combining a variety of mediums including 3D computer modeling and animation, digital video, sound design, and physical computing to push the boundaries of artistic expression. David's creative work has been exhibited internationally at art galleries, museums, film festivals, and public screenings. Most notably, his digital animation work has been screened at the National Film Theater in London, the National Media Museum in England, the Red Stick International Animation Festival in Baton Rouge, and the Chelsea Art Museum in New York City. David’s research has been presented and published at numerous international conferences including ISEA 2008 - the International Symposium on Electronic Art in Singapore, ISEA 2009 in Ireland, and the Electronic Visualisation and the Arts (EVA) 2010 international conference in London.
