Universal Leonardo
Universal Leonardo is a state-of-the-art website on Leonardo da Vinci created by the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, University of the Arts London, UK. The site is part of the Universal Leonardo international exhibition program.
The web site explores the key concepts that form the basis of Leonardo's works and the connections he made between art and science through a visual and highly interactive timeline at the top of the site.
The Browse section features a gallery of 100+ images (many of which are zoomable) of Leonardo's works including paintings, drawings, manuscripts and models of inventions. A basic bibliography, links to other sites and in-depth features on Leonardo's thought are available in the Research section.
Other highlights include Discover, featuring a number of images of scientific analyses carried out on Leonardo's Madonna of the Yarnwinder (The Lansdowne Madonna) as part of the Universal Leonardo program.
The Play section offers a range of simple but engaging on-line games and interactive activities that explore some of the thinking behind Leonardo's approach, from his obsession with flying to monsters making, mirror writing, perspective and more.
