Scholar, Web Designer Create Digital Japanese Scroll

Re: Scholar, Web Designer Create Digital Japanese Scroll

Another interesting aspect of this project is what happens to the academic technology staff that conceives and develop such works. The faculty member behind the content of this site had no interest, desire, or understanding of what this could be. He needed images digitized for the camera-ready copy required by the publisher of his printed work. Others re-conceived his work as animated scrolls that users could compare and incorporated his valuable scholarship into an even more illuminating web-based research and educational materials. In return the faculty member received the digital images he need for his publisher. In time, he was granted tenure. He also came back to look at the site. Today, not one of the original programmers, designers, information architects, student employees, etc. who perceived and developed this application currently receives any credit for this site. Nor do the staff who developed the second version.
