Education Commons Live!
In the ensuing discussion, we got to find out what some of our readers think when they come to Academic Commons: that the lights may be on but nobody seems to be home.
I've been tracking Education Commons, and they've been valiantly posting stuff, much of it interesting. Their latest intervention is an Education Commons Live feature, which will be both some sort of dial-in thing, as well as a podcast archive. Their first topic will be a weekly OKI webcast, presumably discussing that piece of deep infrastructure that we are all counting on to help open up the world of course managment systems to provide us with tools that are interoperable, standards compliant, and promote the acquisition of knowledge (rather than, for example, the acquisition of pizza.)
In the interests of avoiding re-creating the BosWash sprawl that we all are now living to regret, consider this a public invitation to Education Commons and all other allies in the struggle to change our institutions for the better. Let's see if we can't coordinate our efforts in some interesting, meaningful way so that the work that we are doing complements each other.
