DESCRIPTION: By 2010 it's clear that most of our institutions have experience (and for some, expertise) in building digital collections of images. Even for those who are not there yet, we have very good standards and best practices that facilitate implementation of digitization projects. Rather, today's central concern is rights management. Who can use it, how can they use it, and where can they use it? As we move rapidly towards digital learning environments, gaps in rights management and policy seem to emerge from every corner of campus.

What are the pathways for working with institutional counsel? How do we go about developing policies for mandated collaborative projects? Where does image copyright fit in with institutional repository licenses, and what are the emerging best practices, guidelines, and model agreements? In this SIG we will explore these topics through moderated scenarios, information sessions, and break-out groups.
