Now in its 7th year, the Galway Symposium on Higher Education is becoming a landmark on the Irish and European higher education calendar. In a friendly, informal atmosphere with carefully selected, high-quality keynote speakers and plenty of scope for breakout discussion and debate, the Symposium has considered a wide range of issues over the years, but with a strong undercurrent of supporting the basic ethos of a broad perspective with opportunity to reach across traditional disciplinary boundaries and think creatively about alternative visions of a 'democratic intellect'.
